The Origin of Horus the God

What was Horus the god of? Long ago in the peak era of ancient Egypt, Osiris had the throne as a divine pharaoh who was beloved by gods and mortals. Osiris’ main aim during his period was an era of prosperity and justice. He was accompanied by his wife, Isis, who was known for her wisdom and magical abilities. They had their lives together with love and passion, as they embodied harmony and balance. However, in the shadows, Seth, the brother of Osiris, was full of envy and lust for power, as his heart had a dark grudge that increased daily about Osiris being on the throne.

Seth knew no leap, and soon he made a master plan to take over the throne. Seth created a huge banquet, inviting Osiris and other gods, and during the feast, he announced a mind-blowing sarcophagus, promising to give it to whoever fits perfectly inside. All the gods tried, but none fit, and when Osiris’s turn came, he lay in the coffin in a perfect way, discovering that it could be his. But at that moment Seth and his allies shut the coffin down and threw it into the Nile.

The Born of Horus

Then, Isis was in despair by the loss of her husband and kept searching without break to find him, as she wiped Egypt, collecting every piece of Osiris’s body scattered by Seth. With the aid of her spells and chant, Isis regained Osiris’s body, temporarily reviving him in their brief loving union. Then, they conceived a son, who is “Horus,” born of magic and sobbing. Horus was more than just an heir; he was the avenger that restored balance and brought justice to Seth’s betrayal. In a small corner of the Nile Delta, Horus, son of Isis, grew up away from the world’s eyes and in caution, as this environment full of reed beds and calm waters served as a sanctuary protecting the young god from the threat of Seth.
