Explore the Temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu

Very interestingly among the points of call on your cruise to the extraordinary Temple of Kom-Ombo, a unique double temple overlooking the Nile built for two ancient Egyptian deities, the god associated with strength and fertility, Sobek, and the god of protection and kingship, Horus.

By visiting the temple, you can discover the famous designs and inscriptions-almost symmetrical to perfection in temple construction-a bit of a lesson in ancient Egyptian understanding of begetting, ceremony, and daily social life.

Inventive travelers will visit the grand temple of Edfu on their route-the very last of its kind in full splendor in Egypt. Dedicated to the falcon god Horus, this magic-filled temple has large pylons, huge courtyards, and beautiful undecorated reliefs of the mythic hero battling his enemies and reiterating temple ceremony.

This temple’s enormously oversized stone halls carry its visitors into the Egyptian ancient religion and architecture.

With its giant columns, it is a kind of marvel to stand in front of the towering obelisks we can easily identify in different parts of the complex and in the powerful halls of ceremonies at such grand scale.

One of the most memorable moments is the legendary Valley of the Kings, under whose rocks many of Egypt’s greatest pharaohs found their final resting spots in concealed tombs hewn into the mountains of the desert sands.
