The Great Pyramid of Giza also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or Cheops is centrally located in the heart of the Plateau. It is the only surviving ancient pyramid of Egypt. It is about 138.5 meters tall and has a swivel door at the entrance.
The second-largest of Giza. It was constructed on bedrock and has two entrances. Also, the Pyramid is defended by the Great Sphinx which is a statue of a massive human-headed lion made of a natural rock. Besides, it also has a more pointed top.
Located at a place called Saqqarah and built by Imhotep, the Pyramid of Djoser was the first pyramid in Egypt. It is 62 meters in height and built using limestone. Besides having 13 fake doors built into it, the Pyramid has only one entry to the complex’s southeast side.
Located 100 km southeast of Cairo, the Pyramid of Meidum was built for the Pharaoh Huni. The entrance to the pyramid is through the robber’s tunnel (narrow and claustrophobic) which leads to a large chamber. Also, a Mortuary temple is found on the east side of the Pyramid.
Located in the heart of Dahshur is another great pyramid of Egypt known as The Bent Pyramid. Built for the Pharaoh Sneferu, the pyramid is 40 meters in height. And the pyramid’s base rises up at a 54-degree angle from the desert floor. However, the top half is built at an angle of 43 degrees. It was considered the first real smooth-sided pyramid.
