We booked a day tour to The Pyramids with Egypt United tours as we were in Cairo for a business trip.
It was an incredible day tour!! We started our morning at one of the great wonders of the world: The Great Pyramids of Giza.
It’s hard to capture the scale of the pyramids in photos, but it’s true, they are very impressive. We also crawled down into the burial chamber of one of the Queen’s small Pyramids. We then moseyed on over to something called ‘The Sphinx’. There, we learned the secret history of the Great Sphinx, but we swore we wouldn’t tell anybody J. The Sphinx allowed for some more photos and fun before we set off to visit a ‘Papyrus Museum’ and a very interesting demonstration about how papyrus has been made for the last 5000 years. For lunch, we enjoyed a nice meal overlooking the pyramids and then set off to the Egyptian Museum. Our Egyptologist, Ahmed, guided us through the museum. It was truly fascinating to learn about the mythology of the ancient Egyptians. Even more impressive was the detail and skill of the craftsmen thousands of years ago. The Tutankhamen exhibition was stunning. Some of the highlights were his ornately decorated, solid gold coffin and death mask. The jewelry was exquisite too. By the end of the museum we were all quite tired, so we headed back to the hotel for a swim and a lovely buffet dinner.
Some lifetime memories were made that day. I am so thankful for Egypt United tours
